Software

The suite of all computer programs, including operating system, compilers, packages, and user programs, which enable a particular computer centre to operate. The notion is contrasted with the hardware and the liveware. Software engineering is a methodology for developing computer software with the objective of ensuring that the software is efficient, does the job for which it is intended, and is produced within cost and on time. The intention is that software design and production should be akin to the design and production of other engineering products. A software house is an organization devoted primarily to the production of computer software either for a manufacturer, for a computer user, or for direct sale.
