In the European parliament it is affiliated with the Union for a Europe of Nations group along with some conservative and/or nationalist parties. From an American perspective, PiS would be more comparable to Conservative Democrats rather than Republicans, because it combines social conservatism with a moderate, centrist stance on fiscal issues.
